World Vision's 30 Hour Famine is an event held each year for youth groups. The groups find people to sponsor them for their 30 hour fast. That money goes to World Vision who uses it to feed and clothe children, as well as teach people in third-world countries to sustain themselves through proper farming and irrigation techniques, among other trades. In essence, the youth groups don't eat so that other children can! Did you know that 29,000 CHILDREN die every DAY from hunger? And that's just the children! That's one every three seconds...that's one every breath you take...that's the city of Greeley, Colorado GONE in THREE DAYS! Our youth group participated April 29-30, 2005. Find out what Kelly & April Crull, two friends of mine, are doing in Madrid, Spain (with Christian Associates International), as they help to build God's church, and maybe their home. Read their latest news, pick up their latest newsletter, find out about their church (Mountainview International), and even find out how to support them financially and in prayer. Kelly actually has his own website at kellycrull.com.
Find out about this non-profit organization that has been fighting children's poverty for years. A sponsored child receives food, shelter, clothing, and even education (including Bible classes). Find out how to sponsor a child and even sign up online. I've been sponsoring Philip Alois from Tanzania for years and he's been a great blessing to me. He even sends me letters (I receive the original as well as the translation into English) to keep me updated on him and his family.
This is the morning church that Amber and I attend. It's more traditional than the church below but still has an informal atmosphere that welcomes visitors in order to present the gospel to and reach the people of Greeley, Colorado. Amber and I are involved in the worship planning committee for this church, and we enjoy being a part of that. Amber has been involved in several artwork projects as well, and I enjoy assisting the praise team to lead this congregation in worship through song on Sunday mornings.
The ministry of John Piper, author and pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where I attended while living there. One of the most passionate pastors I've ever met, and one of the most well-spoken. A great pastor and author, his ministry is devoted to declaring the supremacy of God for the good of all peoples. From difficult theological doctrinal arguments, to books on missions, to daily devotionals, Pastor Piper has written books for many issues facing Christians today. But more than a store, this website is a huge resource for scholarship, inquiry, or even for listening to speeches, talks, or sermons on internet radio.
Read the latest social issue article written from a Biblical perspective by a non-profit organization whose mission is to serve God, advance justice, and transform public life. They are on the front lines of political battles in Washington, D.C. and, as a non-profit organization, are dependent upon donations to continue to push for reform and justice in our domestic and foreign policies.
Having spent a semester at Focus on the Family Institute in 2000, I have come to really appreciate what this non-profit organization does for people around the world. Check out the official home page and read tons of helpful articles on topics that concern Christians and non-Christians in daily life. You can even donate online to this non-profit organization, as their entire budget comes from donations and sales of religious materials at low prices to those who request them. Even their items for sale don't have a real price tag. They have "suggested donations" and for those that can't afford it, they send it to them anyway. How great is that?! Or, if you're in college, check out the Focus on the Family Institute and see if you might be interested in a semester program in Colorado Springs. And yes, you can earn a full semester of college credit for your studies there. If you have more questions, feel free to contact me at sammyjames33@hotmail.com, as it was the greatest semester of my college career.
An online resource for all families and even singles, combining several Christian resources into one website. Visit here for the issues facing your family our someone you love, or make a donation online to this non-profit organization dependent on support from the general public. This site also allows you to listen to online radio broadcasts via streaming. This is free for those who have Windows Media Player or RealOne Player, both of which are free at their respective websites.
Another Christian online resource, with lots of free resources as well as books, music, and DVD's that you can purchase from their online store.
An incredible site for anyone working with middle school through high school age kids, whether it be youth pastors, volunteers, mentors, or teachers.
